Mountains

I'm back with some paintings for a change. I painted these during art classes between January and June. This time we took inspiration from the theme of mountains. It seems the topic suited me. In fact I totally enjoyed the task and have been very productive. And I have to tell you that I'm very happy with what I've been able to create. I'm sorry for the picture overload but I can't help myself.

A special hello to my dear friend S.C. who has been patiently waiting for me to post them. Hope you enjoy seeing them.

They all measure approximately 61 x 42 cm (except the last that is half that big) and are painted with acrylics on paper.

I took this picture at the end of semester exhibition of student's works. Unfortunately because of the reflection from the windows it was impossible to take good pictures. This is the best I was able to do. One of the mountains shown is mine. Happy hunting!

Tropical

I finally managed to take some pictures of my most recent finished paintings. You know, the ones I do in a weekly public class at the local school of design. As usual at the beginning of the semester the teacher sets a theme as a source of inspiration that we can freely interpret as we like. This time the theme was tropical plants. In addition we got the task to work with self made templates. I drew freehand some forms that reminded me of leaves and other parts of plants on plastic sheets, cut them out and used them as templates for working with a paint roller.
This has been a great assignment we all had a lot of fun working at. Too bad I can only show what I did. It's always such a surprise to see what different people come up with starting from the same few parameters.

Cityscapes

It's been a while since I posted about my paintings that I do at a public class once a week. Time to catch up. The theme of the past spring/summer semester was cityscapes. We took inspiration from pictures in magazines, other paintings, or own photos from travels. As usual the theme was just the starting point for all kind of creations. These are my works. All acrylic on paper.

As a change from sewing and travel reports I'm going to post a little about my last paintings. Again they were all made in class during last August through January. While in the previous semester the proposed theme has been water, this time the topic was fruits and vegetables. I saw a photocopy of a painting of a still life with a Lemon and several limes. Unfortunately, the loose photocopy didn't have any references to the artist or title of the painting and I'm sorry I can't pay credits to the person that inspired me to the following paintings. For once, I decided to stick to the very same subject and to paint variations playing with different brush strokes and colors.

They are all acrylic on paper and measure about 28 x 19 cm. Here we go with a first set where I kept the same color scheme.

Water - Wasser - Acqua // 1

Since I don't have a lot of sewing to show I thought this is a good time to share some of my paintings about Water. They were all made in class between January and July and I'm going to show them in order of completion. For reasons unknown to me they will all be about the Sea. Hear we go with number one.

Da ich nicht viel Genähtes zu zeigen habe, ist dies ein guter Zeitpunkt meine Wasserbilder zu zeigen. Sie sind alle zwischen Januar und Juli im Kurs entstanden. Ich werde sie in der Reihenfolge der Fertigstellung zeigen. Ich weiss nicht weshalb, aber alle sind vom Meer inspiriert. Hier ist also Nummer eins.

Dato che non ho molto cucito da mostrarvi ho pensato che questo sia il momento buono per mostrarvi i miei dipinti sul tema acqua che ho fatto in classe durante i mesi di Gennaio a Luglio. Ve li mostrerò nel ordine come sono stati compiuti. Non so il perché ma tutti sono stati ispirati dal mare. Eccovi il primo.

Woods - Wald - Bosco // 7 and last

And this is my newest and last painting of the woods series. Quite a departure from the previous ones. Click on the label painting if you want to see all of my woods paintings.
Meanwhile I've started on the new theme. It's water. I'm excited and afraid of it at the same time. I guess it will take a while before I'll have results to show.

Dies ist nun mein neustes und gleichzeitig letztes Bild der Wald-Serie. Schaut ziemlich anders aus als die paar vorigen. Click auf das Label Painting, falls du sie nochmals sehen willst.
Inzwischen habe ich mit dem neuen Thema begonnen. Es ist Wasser. Ich freu mich drauf, habe aber auch Respekt davor. Es wird wohl eine Weile dauern, bis ich ein Resultat habe, das ich zeigen kann.

Nel frattempo ho iniziato con il nuovo tema "Acqua". Lo trovo interessante ma mi fa anche un poco paura. Penso che durerà un bel tempo prima che avrò qualcosa da mostrarvi.

Woods - Wald - Bosco // 6

I'm really enjoying working on the woods series. I finished this one last week and I'm quite happy with it. This week started the new semester and with it a new theme has been proposed. But I'm still working on one last woods painting that I'll be able to show in another week or so.  So I won't tell you more for now.

Ich geniesse es sehr, an der Waldserie zu arbeiten. Dieses Bild habe ich letzte Woche fertig gestellt und ich bin wieder recht zufrieden damit. Diese Woche hat das neue Semester begonnen und damit gibt es auch ein neues Thema zu bearbeiten. Ich bin aber noch dabei, das letzte Waldbild fertig zu malen, das ich sicher bald zeigen kann. Deshalb verrate ich im Moment nicht mehr dazu.

E davvero un grande divertimento lavorare sul tema bosco. Questo dipinto l'ho finito la settimana scorsa e ne sono abbastanza soddisfatta. Ora ha incominciato il nuovo semestre e con ciò un nuovo tema ci è stato posto. Però sto ancora per finire un ultimo dipinto di bosco che potò mostrarvi presto e quindi per il momento non vi dico di più.

This is my last finished painting and for this one I got a lot of praise from my teacher. Something that doesn't happen that often.

Dies ist mein jüngstes Bild und für dieses habe ich viel Lob von meiner Lehrerin erhalten. Dies passiert mir nicht so oft.

Ecco il mio ultimo dipinto che mi ha portato molta lode dalla mia maestra. Cosa che non mi capita tanto spesso.

My second painting of the woods series. It's been heavily inspired by the painting Alleé of Paul Cezanne.

Mein zweites Bild aus der Wald-Serie. Ich habe mich sehr stark von dem Gemälde Alleé von Paul Cezanne leiten lassen.

Il mio secondo dipinto nella serie del bosco. Mi sono orientata molto sul dipinto Alleé di Paul Cezanne.

This semester the theme at my art class is woods. Woods as a starting point to gain inspiration for own ideas and interpretations. This is my first finished work.

In diesem Semester meines Malkurses ist Wald das Thema. Wald als Inspirationsquelle für eigene Ideen und Interpretationen. Dies ist meine erste fertiggestellte Arbeit.

In questo semestre del corso di disegno che frequento il tema è il bosco. Il bosco come fonte di ispirazioni per idee e interpretazioni proprie. Questo è il mio primo lavoro portato a fine.

And with these two I finished off the semester in a totally relaxed and fun way.

Und mit diesen beiden habe ich das Semester in einer total entspannten und lustigen Weise beendet.

E con questi due ho concluso il semestre in modo totalmente rilassante e divertente.

For this next one I first covered the sheet with different pink tones then covered parts with magic scotch and painted with a blue color over all of it. Then I enjoyed removing the tape and looking at the surprising results.

Für dieses Bild habe ich das Blatt zuerst mit verschiedenen rosa Farben bemalt, mit Klebestreifen (magic scotch) stellenweise überklebt und schliesslich alles nochmals mit blauer Farbe übermalt. Das sorgfältige Entfernen der Klebestreifen und sich überraschen lassen macht sehr viel Spass.

Qui ho prima coperto il foglio con colori rosa. Poi ho coperto delle parti con nastro adesivo rimovibile e ridipinto il tutto con un colore blu. Alla fine mi sono molto divertita a rimuovere il nastro e sorprendermi del risultato.
