epp block layout options

Once again I got myself in trouble with way too many layout options. I should have stayed with my original plan but I couldn't. I had to play around and lost myself.

This was my original plan with already some variants

Then I looked at these

Fun but how about this?

Or maybe one of these

But wait! There is more

Or why not a heart?!

Very tough decision making that almost drove me crazy. After days of pondering I've made my decision. To be revealed soon.

epp

I've also made good progress with my epp project and meanwhile finished all the blocks.

I've spent the last days evaluating layout options. Tons of pictures will follow in the next post!

Steps IV // 8

I am really loving how this looks and feels. I don't mind all the threads to bury. They give me the opportunity to hold this work longer in my hands. I think this is coming together beautifully, if I can say so myself.

Steps IV // 7

I've finally gotten around to baste and start quilting Steps IV. I finished the top back in July and it has patiently been waiting while I've been traveling and sewing up my Christmas Tree.
This quilting will keep me busy for days not to speak of all the threads I'll again have to bury. But it just feels great to have a plan and stay focused on the work. Plus these shirt fabrics are so soft that it is a real treat to have my hands full of them.

Christmas Tree Quilt // 7 and last!

Finished! I really like how the quilting turned out. It sparkles around the tree and that is what I was hoping for.
There are a few things I wish I had done differently. Like the very top of the tree. While it's ok to become thinner and lighter in color I now feel it disappears a little too much. A thin strong red strip would have been good up there. Also I wish the whole tree was skinnier and taller.
There are other things but I won't bother you further with my self-criticism. It's my original design and most of it turned out as envisioned. I think I should be happy with that.

All in all it's been an experiment and I learnt a lot. I hope I'll remember! I'm putting it aside now and wait for the first Advent to hang it in my house. I'm sure I'll feel good when it hangs.

Christmas Tree Quilt // 5

Oh! I'm getting very excited about this area.

And here two images of beautiful Basel taken during one of my early morning runs of last week.
