Foulard I - IV

Here are all four quilt tops at once. These all need backing and machine quilting. Plus I have Diamond to finish hand quilting and Hope waiting for hand quilting. But my head is still full of ideas for more tops. I need to have a serious conversation with myself whether to hold them back and finish some of these wips first or not. I'm curious to find out which side will win.

Foulard IV // 1

Sketching or not, most of the time I just keep sewing. I have so many ideas that need to come out.
So it didn't take long and also Foulard IV had its finished top!

I think four Foulards are enough for this series. I think.

Sketching

Sometimes I just have to sketch some ideas. If only to get them out of my head and make room for other things. This has been such a moment.

This another.

Foulard III // 2

Further progress was quickly made. I had to use the flash for taking this picture and therefore the colors are not rendered properly.

My original plan was to start dark outside and become brighter in the center. But when I saw how this was looking I changed my mind.

I decided to rather put some dark accents. I think it's better this way.

Of course I could have decided in many other different ways. I could have spent several days thinking about it. Instead I started to sew the blocks together and sketched a new plan for Foulard IV.

Foulard III // 1

Perhaps you remember the finished tops of Foulard I and II. I've started to work on Foulard III ! Again I'm using only old bed sheets and fabric scraps from old clothing and such. My plan was to continue on the same path as with the first two ones but explore a new layout.

These are the fabrics I'm using.

Once everything was washed and ironed I cut them into stripes. I was very excited to finally use my new sewing table for the first time.

Needless to say that I couldn't be in a happier place! And the pieces came together like nothing.

My empty design wall started quickly to become busy.

And soon the outer sides were done.

I don't know why this time I started to work from the sides inwards. It just so happened.
