Crochet Wrap - Häkel-Stola - Stola all'uncinetto // 5

I finished crocheting my wrap. I made up the long side edging myself. I wish I would have done it a little wider. It's more a scarf than a wrap. I'm thinking of adding fringes to the two short sides. What do you think?

Was meint ihr?

Ho finito il mio lavoro all'uncinetto.

Floating colors - Gleitende Farben - Colori sospesi // 11

The binding is machine sewn to the front of the quilt. I now will sew it onto the back side by hand. Elizabeth Hartmann has a great Making and Sewing Binding tutorial on her blog. Her blog has given me many inspirations and helpful hints.

Floating colors - Gleitende Farben - Colori sospesi // 10

I have decided on the binding for my floating colors quilt. I first thought of using the same charcoal colored fabric as in the quilt. I was thinking that so the colors would be free to float off the quilt. But I kept coming back to this finely striped cotton fabric. The stripes are black and dark beige and seem to fit perfectly the charcoal and the variegated colors of the quilt. I think it adds interest to a rather calm quilt. The binding is now ready to be sewn onto the quilt. If you have a question on how to make the binding leave me a comment and I'll be happy to answer.

DIY tutorial for updated gift wrapping paper

For some reasons I find myself with tons of christmas wrapping paper and almost none for birthday occasions. Recently I had a rather large gift to wrap and didn't want to buy a new roll of wrapping paper while my drawer is still overflowing. Here is how I solved the problem:

  1. I wrapped the gift with the christmas wrapping paper since I only wanted to take care of the front side.
  2. I cut out circles from magazine pages. I used a jar lid and a pencil to mark the circles. You choose colors, patterns and shapes of your liking or matching the wrapping paper. Cut as many as you like. I decided that some of the original design would still show.
  3. I first moved them around on the paper until I liked the whole appearance and glued them down.
  4. I weighted it all down with more magazines for about ten minutes.

And I was done! Quick and easy and really fun. (The receiver of the gift liked it as well!)
