Books 2017

Happy New Year everyone!

As usual here is my kind of year end review:

2016

Happy New Year's Eve !

In our family it is a tradition to have some play time on New Year's Eve. I don't know why it took me years to finally sew a little fabric bag to replace the ugly black plastic bag. Better late than never! I'm quite sure tonight's playing will be a totally new experience :) !

Wishing you all a fun New Year's Eve and a smooth transition into 2018!!

Christmas Tree Quilt indoors

I know I'm a little late but I just realized I never showed how my Christmas Tree Quilt looks on the wall. A few more days and it will come down!

Coasters 2nd

Unfortunately one set of coasters got lost in the mail. I quickly made a new one!

Coasters

Two sets of two coasters each for two couples. For a homely moment. It's the small things.

Merry Christmas !

Still hand quilting

Since I can't focus my mind on designing a new quilt I keep working on this hand quilting. It looks as if this will be finished earlier than expected.

Hand quilting

This hand quilting will be my companion during these long dark evenings on the couch.

Basting party

Not my preferred step in quilt making but still a milestone that makes me happy!

epp top almost done

Once I decided on the final layout for this top I immediately started with the assembly to reach the point of no return. I haven't regretted it so far and I'm happily attaching the last block.

Steps IV // 10 and last !!

Steps IV is completed! And I'm very very satisfied with how this work turned out.

Except for the backing (which is a light weight ikea fabric) it is made of 90% recycled shirts.
The batting is a thin loft 100% cotton. The spacing of the parallel quilting lines varies from 1 to 2.5 cm. The result is a soft and cozy quilt.

I really love how it looks. The colors are calm, the shapes are subtle, resulting in an elegant look. Yet there is so much to look at. The movement evokes different associations such as water or music.

It measures 170 x 127 cm.

Steps IV // 9

I've made good progress with this quilt. It will soon be finished and I'm looking forward to see it completed. I think it will look great!

epp block layout options

Once again I got myself in trouble with way too many layout options. I should have stayed with my original plan but I couldn't. I had to play around and lost myself.

This was my original plan with already some variants

Then I looked at these

Fun but how about this?

Or maybe one of these

But wait! There is more

Or why not a heart?!

Very tough decision making that almost drove me crazy. After days of pondering I've made my decision. To be revealed soon.
